The Farm supports a number of on-going community activities and projects. The Master Gardeners maintains a number of green houses and their annual spring plant sale. The Food Back supports an annual crop of carrots on seven acres on the farm. The Food Bank distributes 6 million pounds of food much of which is grown on the Farm. For more information visit them at http://www.clarkcountyfoodbank.org.
The 84 community gardens are active and maintained throughout the spring and summer months. Garden plots are managed by Clark County Parks and Recreation Department. For more information visit them at http://www.clark.wa.gov/general-services/community-gardens.
Numerous capital improvement projects are on the proposed list to include an irrigation system, parking lot, trail system with kiosks, vegetable washing stations, restrooms, to name a few.
The master plan, adopted in 2012, is based on community guided principles:
- Celebrate our agricultural heritage
- Maintain WSU’s presence on the site through programs, research, and office facilities
- Showcase and promote sustainable agricultural and building practices
- Support agricultural research that supports sustainable farming practices
- Enhance community wellness and inspire life-long learning
- Promote community volunteerism
- Integrate a variety of activities and resources that promote community access
